Dunhuang Airport is among the seven civil aviation airports in Gansu province and is an important domestic branch airport. It has the flight zone grade of 4C with nine parking stands which can accommodate the B757, A320 and smaller aircraft for taking off and landing day and night. It also serves as the main alternate airport for Urumqi International Airport. The Airport is located in Mogao Town, Dunhuang City, Gansu Province, and occupies an area of 1,968.6 mu.

1. Bus
There are few bus lines in Dunhuang. Rickshaws and bicycles are the most common means of transportation within the City. Buses from downtown Dunhuang to Dunhuang Caves depart from Dunhuang Restaurant located north of the bus station, at the crossing of Xiyu Road. The buses pass by the Silk Road Dunhuang Hotel and Dunhuang Railway Station, and terminate at Dunhuang Caves. The bus leaves every half hour and costs RMB 8 per ticket. The last bus from Dunhuang Caves to the City leaves at 18:00.
2. Taxi
There are two types of taxis in Dunhuang City. The flag-down fares are RMB 5 for Xiali taxis and RMB 10 for Santana taxis.
