Brief Introduction:
Hiroshima Prefecture is located on the southwest of Honshu. It covers a land area of 714 square kilometers and has a population of around 1.12 million people. On 6th August, 1945, a US bomber, named after Enola Gay, dropped the first atomic bomb above Hiroshima and began the final chapter of World War II in a horrific way. Hiroshima prefecture has two World Heritage Sites - the famous “Atomic Bomb Relics” (a brutal imprint of the atomic bomb) and the Itsukushima Shrine (known to be Japan’s national treasure). *Some Images provided by Hiroshima Prefecture Tourism Organization
