Notice Concerning the Air China Free Refund and Alterations Policy for Tickets Throughout the Chinese New Year Travel Season

Dear passengers,
        In response to the government's initiative aimed at dissuading the general public from traveling throughout the Chinese New Year period, and in adherence to the requirements for ticket refunds and alterations set by the Civil Aviation Administration of China, Air China hereby announces the following policy for free refunds and alterations on tickets throughout the Chinese New Year travel season:
         I. Eligible passengers with ticket numbers starting with 999, who purchased their tickets before 12:00 AM on January 27, 2021 for travel dates between January 27, 2021 and March 8, 2021 are entitled to a free refund or alteration. Passengers are only eligible to apply for an alteration to their ticket once, the alteration must be for an Air China flight on the same route as the original ticket with a scheduled departure time prior to or on the date of June 30, 2021. Passenger eligibility is dependent on whether or not one of the following criteria is met:
        (1) Passengers with a scheduled departure date between January 27 and February 3 that submit a refund/alteration request after 12:00 AM on January 27.
        (2) Passengers with a scheduled departure date between February 4 and March 8 that submit a refund/alteration request between 12:00 AM on January 27 and up to 7 day prior to the scheduled flight departure—inclusive of the day of departure.
        Please note that the following passengers are not eligible for this service under the criteria set out above: Passengers that request a flight alteration for a new flight departing on or after July 1, 2021, passengers that have already submitted one successful alteration request and require a subsequent alteration or refund. Refunds and alterations for these passengers will be processed according to the terms of use for the specific ticket.
        II. Passengers that previously submitted a refund/alteration request prior to 12:00 AM on January 27 are not eligible to receive a refund or compensation for any service fees, which they were charged in order to make this request.
        Passengers that plan on canceling their travel plans for a flight scheduled during the Chinese New Year period should submit a refund/alteration request via the original ticket purchase channel, at their earliest convenience. Passengers that require a ticket alteration but have not yet decided upon their revised travel dates may first cancel their seat reservation. The revised travel dates for their flight alteration may be submitted later.
