On entry or exit, visitors need to fill in the entry/exit registration card and a customs declaration form. Visitors must declare the total value of their belongings, including gifts they have obtained and merchandise samples. The information contained in the customs declaration must be true. Those who make false declaration or don't declare face penalty for violation of the Customs Law of the Philippines. Items for personal use don't need to be declared. Illegal import of prohibited goods (weapons, explosives, etc.), controlled substances (radio transceiver, CDs, videos, etc.) and controlled items (narcotics, chemicals, prescription medicines without a doctor's prescription, etc.) are in violation of the Philippine Customs Law, regardless of their quantity. Plants, plant products, meat, meat products, birds, snails and other live animals and animal products are prohibited.

Without the approval of the Central Bank of Philippines, it's illegal to take into or out of Philippines banknotes, coins, checks or other bills with a value of above 10,000 pesos withdrawn from the Bank of the Philippines. Such banknotes, coins, checks or other bills could be confiscated and offenders could face civil penalties or criminal prosecution. The passenger who carries the equivalent of foreign currencies of above USD 10,000 must declare in the customs declaration; offenders will face a fine ranging from 50,000 pesos to 200,000 pesos or be sentenced to 2-10 years' imprisonment.
