2. Basic Information
Sichuan Jiuzhaihuanglong Airport opened on September 28, 2003, and is designated as a national branch tourism airport. It is presently ranked as the sixth highest national “high plateau” airport with an elevation of 3,447.68 meters. Located in Chuanzhu Temple Town, Songpan County, Ngawa Prefecture, Sichuan Province, Sichuan Jiuzhaihuanglong Airport is 88 kilometers away from Jiuzhaigou and 53 kilometers away from Huanglong, It is the air hub for the Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong scenic area. After three phases of construction, the 3,400 meter-long airport runway can accommodate B757-200 and smaller aircraft for takeoff and landing. The terminal covers an area of 17,000 square meters.
3. Terminal Information
Sichuan Jiuzhaihuanglong Airport has two terminals, Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, each of which has four boarding gates. Only Terminal 1 (the old terminal) is open for flights during the low season. Both terminals operate during the peak season. The two terminals are connected by a dedicated passageway.

The Air China check-in counters are Counters 1 - 8 on the first floor of Terminal 2, and special check-in counters are available next to Counter 1 for VIP passengers, Gold Card holders and First Class passengers.
During low season (winter): The Air China check-in counter is moved to the first floor of Terminal 1.

Travelers can follow posted signs to find taxi stands. A taxi from the Airport to Jiuzhaigou costs about RMB 200 during the day and RMB 260 at night.

The Airport provides shuttle buses to each of the primary scenic spots. The ticket from the Airport to Jiuzhaigou costs about RMB 45, while the shuttle bus from the Airport, routed through Huanglong to Jiuzhaigou costs about RMB 90.

1. Environmentally Friendly Sightseeing Bus
Ordinary private vehicles are prohibited inside Jiuzhaigou, where environmentally friendly sightseeing buses are available. The buses run from Goukou to Nuorilang, about 14.5 km; from Nuorilang to Changhai, about 18.0 km; and from Nuorilang to primitive forests, about18.0 km. Along these routes there are 22 sightseeing stops. Tickets, which cover the entire scenic area and will be checked when passengers board and re-board the buses, can be purchased at the scenic area ticket office..
2. Taxi
It is 128 kilometers between Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong Temple. Due to the distance, taxis are usually chartered by visitors for a negotiated fee, instead of a standard fare based on the taxi meter. As an alternative to taking a taxi, visitors can take the bus which travels north from Jiuzhaigou to Songpan or Chengdu and stop in Chuanzhu Temple after driving for 92 kilometers, and change another bus which travels east to Pingwu. There are 41 kilometers from Chuanzhu Temple to Pingwu.
Jiuzhaigou County, located on the plateau in the northern part of Sichuan province with an elevation of 1,000 – 4,500 meters, has a long winter and a short summer. A warm temperate semi-dry climate, a temperate climate and a cold temperate monsoon climate govern areas of different elevations.

Spring: Temperatures are low and vary greatly with an average temperature of 9 - 18 ℃.
Summer: Temperatures rise and are steady with an average temperature of 19 - 22℃; it is cold at night and a thin sweater is recommended.
Autumn: Agreeable climate with a wide difference in temperature between days and nights; it is especially cold in late autumn after October, and winter clothes are recommended.
