2. Basic Information
Yinchuan Hedong Airport was built in 1995 and opened in December 2000. It’s the biggest and busiest civil airport in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, and one of the most important air transportation hubs in the Northwest Region of China.
3. Terminal Information
Yinchuan Hedong Airport has two terminals: Terminal 1 (T1) and Terminal 2 (T2). T1 is the terminal that serves international flights and T2 serves domestic flights. Most of Air China’s flights are operated out of T2.

Air China’s check-in counters are Counters No. 1 - 20 on the second floor of T2; Air China’s self-service counters are southeast of Counter No. 20 on the second floor of T2.

Air China’s VIP Lounge is Yinchuan Hedong Airport’s First Class Lounge, which is located on the right side of the departure hall, opposite to Boarding Gate 8. Air China’s First Class passengers can use the lounge on the day of their flight.
The VIP Lounge in the south is the VIP Business Lounge, which passengers can pay to use. The VIP Lounge in the north is the government VIP room, which is primarily used for administrative receptions.

Taxi:
The taxi’s flag-down fare is RMB 7 for the first three 3 kilometers, with RMB 1 or RMB 1.2 for each additional kilometer, based on the type of taxi. The night fares apply between 22:00 and 06:00 the next morning, during which time the flag-down fare and fare for each kilometer are somewhat higher. It costs more than RMB 60 to take a taxi from Hedong Airport to Yinchuan City.

1. Bus
There are dozens of bus lines in Yinchuan City, which travel between the Old Town, New Town and New Urban District. There are also buses traveling to and from Yongning County and Helan County. Yinchuan buses stop operating early at night, with most lines closing before 19:00. The ticket fares start at RMB 1. Three travel line buses (Travel 1, Travel 2 and Travel 3) operate from April 20 to October 20 every year. The buses depart from New Moon Square and provide service to the Imperial Tombs of Western Xia, the Rock Paintings in Helan Mountain and The Town of Fort Western Film City.
2. Taxi
The taxi’s flag-down fare is RMB 7 for the first 3 kilometers, with an incremental charge of RMB 1 or RMB 1.2 for each additional kilometer. Taxi fares include a free three minute wait. When the waiting time exceeds three minutes, an additional charge equal to 0.5 kilometer will be added for every one and a half minutes of waiting time.
Yinchuan’s terrain can be divided into mountains and plains. It has a typical temperate continental climate and has four distinct seasons.
Yinchuan’s climate has the following characteristics: late springs and short summers, early autumns and long winters, wide temperature differences between day and night, scarce rain and snow, intense evaporation, dry climate, with much wind and sand. The annual average temperature is around 8.5℃, and annual average sunshine is 2,800 to 3,000 hours, making this one of the districts that has the most solar radiation and sunshine hours in China. Annual average rainfall is around 200 mm. The frost-free period is about 185 days.
The best time for travel is late spring, early summer and autumn, during which periods you can experience the annual Ningxia “ Hua'er Festival” (in May and June each year) and Ningxia International Yellow River Culture Festival (in Mid-September).
