2. Basic Information
Zhangjiajie Hehua Airport is a regional airport supporting domestic tourism and serving as the backbone airport of Hunan Province, located at the foot of the beautiful Tianmen Mountain in Zhangjiajie City, Hunan Province. The airport began operating on August 18, 1994, and now is rated as a 4D airport. The runway is 2,600 meters in length and 45 meters wide, and can accommodate take-offs and landing for medium-sized aircraft limited to 250 seats. The first generation of the terminal consists of three "A-frame" buildings on stilts that embody the traditional architectural features of local Tujia Diaojiaolou design and reflect strong local ethnic characteristics.

Zhangjiajie Hehua Airport currently has a two-story terminal. In March 2011, the Dredging Engineering Project for Zhangjiajie Hehua Airport Expansion Project Terminal 2 was officially started. Currently, Air China operates in terminal T1.
4. Location of Check-In Counters
There are a total of eight counters in the Domestic Departure Hall of Zhangjiajie Hehua Airport. Check-in service for any Air China flight is available at any of the counters. In addition, there are two self-service check-in kiosks to serve passengers.

Taxi:
It costs approximately RMB 20 for a taxi to reach the center of Zhangjiajie, and the trip takes 15 minutes.
Airport Shuttle:
There is an Airport Shuttle bus station outside the Domestic Arrival Hall, offering transportation services to the Airport Hotel at No. 1 Daqiao Road. The fare is approximately RMB 5.
Bus:
There is a bus station 100 meters from the main airport exit. Bus Line 4 connects to the city center for a flat fare of RMB 4. The bus operates between 06:00 and 19:00 daily.

1. Bus
Zhangjiajie is a relatively small city, and the city has just a few bus lines. The major lines include 10 two-way circular bus lines. The hours of operation vary slightly, depending on the seasons and the routes, but most buses usually run between 6:00 and 20:30, and the flat fare is RMB 1.
2. Taxi
In Zhangjiajie, taxis charge a flag-down fare of RMB 5 for the first 1.6 kilometers, with an incremental fare of RMB 1.6 for each additional kilometer up to 10 kilometers; and RMB 3.2 per additional kilometer for trips that exceed 10 kilometers. The flag-down fare between 22:00 and 07:00 is RMB 6 plus a 30% service charge.

There are four distinct seasons: spring and summer are warm, while autumn and winter are cool, with an average annual temperature of 17 ℃. The average temperature in January is 5.1 ℃ and the average temperature in July is 28 ℃.
The best tourist season is from April to October.
