Haikou Meilan International Airport, located in the capital of Hainan Province, is an important airline hub connecting China with Southeast Asia.
3. Terminal Information
Haikou Meilan International Airport has one terminal building occupying a total area of 10,000 square meters. The Hainan Duty Free Shop was opened in October 2011 to give outbound passengers an opportunity to purchase duty-free items. There is an underground passageway connecting the terminal to the Hainan East Ring Rail Meilan Station, providing a seamless connection between air and rail transportation. Air China operates from the terminal building.

Air China’s check-in counters are counters No.33-55 on Level 2 of the terminal building. The Air China’s transit counter shares the space with the ticket agent counter in the terminal building.

Domestic departure
Passengers enter the Departure Hall on Level 2 of the terminal building → complete check-in procedures at counters No.33-35 → proceed to security check → wait at the boarding gate → board the flight
Domestic arrivals
Passengers disembark and enter the Arrival Hall on Level 1 of the terminal building → claim checked baggage → airport exit and ground transportation. To take a train to other cities in Hainan Province, enter the underground passageway from Gate B of the Arrival Hall and walk to the High-speed Rail Meilan Station on the Hainan East Ring Rail
International departures
Passengers enter the International Departure Hall on Level 2 of the terminal building →complete check-in procedures at counters No.57-68 → proceed to security check → border inspection → wait at the boarding gate → board flight

1. Port
Haikou City has three seaports for passenger and cargo service: Xiuying Port, Haikou South Port, and Xingang Port. Xiuying Port, rated as a national first-class open port, is the transport hub of Hainan. There are boats in Xingang port travelling to all the coastal ports in China, and there are regular passenger ships traveling to and from other nearby countries.

The taxis charge a flag-down fare of RMB 10 for the first three kilometers, and RMB 1.2 for each additional kilometer traveled.
