2. Basic Information
Naha Airport is located southwest of Naha City in Okinawa, far away from the main islands of Japan. It serves as both a military and civilian airport. There is one single runway, but by 2015, there will be two runways. Standing on the observation deck of the terminal, one can see waves hitting the beach, and from time to time, see military training aircraft flying across the sky. Such scenery is a major feature of the Naha Airport.
3. Terminal Information
Naha Airport has two terminals: the Domestic Terminal and the International Terminal, which are in separate buildings. Passengers can walk between the two terminals on the ground floor. The Domestic Terminal is a 4-story building, equipped with advanced functions; the International Terminal is a one-story building, but within the next two years a new International Terminal will be constructed.

Passengers arrive at the ground floor of the international terminal by shuttle bus → Inspection & Quarantine → Passport and Border Inspection → Claim baggage → Customs Inspection → Leave the Airport

Air China’s VIP Lounge is rented from Taiwan and China Airlines, and is located outside of the Security Check station in the Check-in Hall of the International Terminal. Please allow enough time to complete the Security Check in time to board your flight.

Light rail service links the Airport with downtown, and costs about 290 Yen. A taxi from the Airport to the city center costs about 1,500 Yen.

1. Bus
Buses provide the main public transportation services in Okinawa and cover major sightseeing spots. Bus routes are divided into inner circle lines traveling through Naha city, and outer circle lines connecting the suburban areas of the City. The starting points for almost all outer circle lines are at the Naha Izumizaki Bus Terminus.
2. Taxi
Since there are no railway facilities on Okinawa Island, taxis have become an important means of transport. Along the streets of Naha, Nago and its surroundings, there are many taxis. It is quite convenient for passengers to take one. Taxis are classified into small cars and mid-sized cars, and the cost is comparatively high.
Okinawa enjoys a subtropical climate, and it’s warm in winter and cool in summer. Any time of the year is good for a vacation.
Spring: Mid-spring time lasts from March to May, when the cherry trees are blossoming. Visitors are advised to bring a thin jacket or sweater;
Summer: Beginning in June, for three or four weeks of early summer there will be a rainy season. July marks the beginning of the mid-summer season;
Autumn: Every wooded area is covered with red leaves. There are a lot of exhibitions and concerts, as well as sports competitions. Visitors are advised to bring a light coat, a thin jacket or sweater;
Winter: On most days, the temperature will be above freezing. The weather is dry, and visitors are advised to bring coats and sweaters.
