2. Basic InformationJohn Kennedy Airport is a major international airport in the City of New York, and is one of the busiest, as well as one of the largest, airports in the world. The airport is located on the coast of Jamaica Bay in Queens. The original name of the airport was “New York International Airport”. After President John Kennedy was assassinated on Nov. 22, 1963, the airport changed its name to “John Kennedy Airport” on Dec. 24, in memory of the president.

1. Subway
New York City Subway (NYCS) has numerous complicated rail lines, with a through ticket fare of two US dollars. It is not only the main form of public transportation in the City of New York, but also the most anfractuous and historic public subway system in the world. There are many unique works of art in the subways. Although it’s called the subway, 40% of its rails are constructed above the ground or elevated. The subway system runs around the clock, so the City of New York is called “The City That Never Sleeps”.
2. Bus
All buses in the City of New York accept both the Metro Card and coins, but no change is provided. As with the subway, you can pay two US dollars to take any bus as you want. Buses in the City of New York run 24 hours a day, seven days a week (except in some remote areas of the city).
3. Taxi
Yellow is the main color of the City of New York taxis, some of which are payable by credit card. You can take a taxi at any time. Those with the white number lit on the top of the car are available. The flag-down fare for New York taxis is 2.5 US dollars, with approximately another four US dollars for 20 blocks in off-peak hours. Between 16:00 and 20:00 on weekdays, one extra US dollar will be charged; during the night from 20:00 to 06:00 on weekdays, half a US dollar extra will be charged.
