2. Basic InformationTaiwan Taoyuan International Airport, Taoyuan Airport for short, was opened on February 26, 1979. It was known as Chiang Kai-shek International Airport before October 2006. It is located in Dayuan in Taoyuan County, which is northwest of Taiwan. It is about a 40-minute drive from downtown Taipei. With an area of 1,223 hectares, it is Taiwan's most important airport.
3. Terminal InformationTaiwan Taoyuan International Airport currently has two terminals and a third terminal is planned. Air China is currently stationed in Terminal 2.
4. Location of Check-In CountersAir China check-in counters are located at 3A in the Departure Hall on Level 3 of Terminal 2. There are a total of 9 check-in counters.
5. Airport DirectionsInternational Departure ProceduresPassenger go to check-in hall on Level 3 of Terminal 2 – register baggage and declare at customs – check-in – security check – border inspection –departure lounge–Board flight.

Public telephone, luggage room, toilet and shower facilities are available in the VIP Room. Refreshments, broadband internet, newspapers, display of flight status, TV and hot food are also provided.
7. Airport Transportation(The distance between the airport and the city center is about 40 km / 25 miles)
Airport bus: Airport buses from Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport to downtown are predominantly operated by U bus, Ever Green, CitiAir Bus and King Bus, and link to downtown Taipei, Taipei West Station, Taichung, Taoyuan city, Songshan Airport and other destinations. It costs approximately 130 Taiwan Dollars to catch an airport bus to downtown Taipei.
Taxi:It takes about 45 minutes to downtown Taipei in a taxi and costs approximately 1,200 Taiwan Dollars.
MRT:The MRT is currently under construction, and is planned to be open to the public partly in 2011 and completely in 2012. When it is in service it will take normal trains stopping at each station approximately 68 minutes to travel from Taipei to Chungli, and it will take direct trains only 35 minutes to travel from downtown to the airport.

1. MRT
The total length of operating Taipei MRT is 74.4 km, with the average daily volume reaching 1.21 million people. Visitors can buy non-contact IC smart cards – Easy Card, which can be used on the MRT, jointly-operated downtown buses, short-range passenger transport and public parking lots. There is also a discount system for bi-direction interchange between buses and MRT.
2. Bus
Taipei has the most developed public transport systems in Taiwan. As of 2007, there were a total of 421 bus routes in operation in the entire greater Taipei, with the average daily volume reaching 1.61 million people; additionally, more than 80% short lines have become members of jointly-operated bus system.
3. Taxi
Taxis in Taipei are yellow and the number plates are red. During the daytime (05:00 - 23:00), the flag-down fare is 70 Taiwan Dollars (within 1.5 km, inclusive) and 5 Taiwan Dollars are charged for every 0.3 kilometer thereafter. At night (23:00 ~ 05:00) the flag-down fare is 70 Taiwan Dollars (within 1.2 km, inclusive) and then 5 Taiwan Dollars for every 0.25 kilometers after.
