2. Basic Information
Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport is located in Chongqing's Yubei District, 21 kilometres north-east of the city centre. It is one of the three biggest airport hubs in Southwest China. The airport was established on 22 January 1990. It has three runways and can accommodate extra-large aircraft such as the Airbus A380. It is capable of handling an annual passenger throughput of 40 million passengers and a freight throughput of 550,000 tonnes (updated).
3. Terminal Information
Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport has three terminal buildings: T2-A and T2-B are used for domestic flights and T3-A is used for domestic and international flights. Air China is based in T3-A (updated).
4. Check-in Counters
Air China check-in counters for domestic departures are located at island 3H (counters 209–240) in T3-A. First and business class passengers and PhoenixMiles Elite members should check in at counters 233–240; economy passengers at counters 212–224; and unaccompanied minors or passengers requiring express check-in, waitlist, or other special services at counters 209–212. Passengers who have already completed self check-in can drop off baggage at counters 213–224.
Air China check-in counters for international departures are located at island 3C (counters 87-96) in T3-A.

Domestic Arrivals

Remote bay arrivals: Take the shuttle bus to T3-A arrivals (level one) → Proceed to T3-A arrivals (level two) via the remote bay arrivals gate → Go to baggage claim hall → Claim baggage → Leave airport.
International Departures

Air China operates its own lounge at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport T3-A. The lounge is located at the intersection between concourses F and G, beneath security. In Chongqing, most taxis are yellow Suzuki Tianyu SX4s and there are a small number of Suzuki Lingyangs.
Fare rates during the day: From 06:00 to 23:00, the flag-down fare is RMB 10 for the first three kilometers with an incremental fare of RMB 2 for each additional kilometer.
Fare rates at night: From 23:00 to 06:00, the flag-down fare is RMB 11 for the first three kilometers with an incremental fare of RMB 2.3 for each additional kilometer.
Chongqing’s climate is humid and sub-tropical with monsoons. The city enjoys long frost-free periods and benefits from abundant rainfall. The average annual temperature is around 16-18 degrees Celsius, while the average annual precipitation is about 1,000-1,400 millimeters. The annual hours of sunshine add up to 1,000 to 1,200 hours.
Spring: spring season begins in late February to early March. During this time, the average temperature at 12-22°C is neither too cold nor too hot. Flowers blossom, and it’s a good time for travelling.
Summer: summer season begins in the middle of May. The weather turns hot and dry with plenty of sunshine and an unstable rainfall pattern. This is why Chongqing has earned the reputation of being a “furnace city”.
Autumn: autumn arrives in the middle of September and Chongqing is the first city in Southwest China in which it is felt. Autumn weather lasts about 70-80 days, about as long as spring weather. Autumn in Chongqing is cool, rainy with a lack of sunshine. From late October to the middle of November, there is a period of sunny days, which is called the “Indian Summer”.
Winter: it begins in early December. Winter in Chongqing is warm, foggy, with little snow and sunshine. The average temperature in the coldest month is 4-8°C.
