2. Basic Information
Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) is one of Malaysia’s most important international airports as well as being an air hub for Asia. Designed by the famous Japanese architect Kisho Kurokawa, the airport brings frontier technologies, the Malay culture and the unique colors of Malaysia together. The airport fulfills the design concept of an “airport in the forest, forest in the airport”. It was officially opened on June 30, 1998.
3. Terminal Information
The green roof of KLIA blends into the surrounding forests. The shape of the airport is like a white tent of the Arabian Bedouins, while the interior has elements of the rainforest.
KLIA has three terminals: the Satellite Terminal Building, the Main Terminal Building and the Contact Pier. The Main Terminal Building and the Contact Pier are connected together, while the Satellite Terminal is linked with the Contact Pier via Aerotrain.
Check-in and immigration processing is handled in the Main Terminal Building, and departure and arrival halls are in the Contact Pier and the Satellite Terminal.
With VIP lounges, tax-free shops, restaurants, guest rooms and other facilities, the Satellite Terminal mainly accommodates international flights.

Passengers arrive at the check-in hall on Level 5 of the Main Terminal Building → Luggage Check-in and Customs Clearance → Check-in → Down to Level 4 → Border Inspection → Security Check → Take Aerotrain → Satellite Building→ International Departures Hall → Board flight.
International Arrival Procedures
Passengers take Aerotrain from the Satellite Building to Level 4 of the Main Terminal Building → Down to Level 3→ Border Inspection→ Baggage Claim →Airport exit and ground transportation.

Airport Express
Passengers can travel to the Central Station in downtown Kuala Lumpur via the Airport Express service.
(1) KLIA Express:
The KLIA Express leaves every 15 minutes during peak times, and every 20 minutes during off-peak times. The rail journey takes about 30 minutes. The fee for a one-way trip is about 35 Ringgit and 70 Ringgit for a round trip (this is the adult price, it is half price for children).
(2) KLIA Transit:
The KLIA leaves every 30 minutes. The journey time is about 35 minutes.
Taxi
Passengers can buy taxi vouchers at the airport. When taking a taxi, passengers give one copy to the driver and keep one. There are 4 types of taxi and passengers are charged according to distance. It costs 70-100 Ringgit to get to the downtown area.
Airport Bus
There are airport buses of varying prices consistently traveling to the downtown area.
Car Rental
A 24-hour car rental service is available at the Arrivals Hall of the Main Terminal Building; service providers include Avis, Budget, Hertz, National and Thrifty.

1. International Trains
The Eastern and Oriental Express service travels from Singapore to Bangkok via Kuala Lumpur. The Express also stops at Butterworth, Sikhoraphum and Hua Hin. It takes about 41 hours in total for the 1,943 kilometer trip.
2. Bus
Bus is the most developed means of transportation in Malaysia, and Kuala Lumpur is at the center of its bus network. There are 4 major bus stations in Kuala Lumpur: Puduraya, Duta, Putra and Pekeliling.
3. Taxi
Kuala Lumpur boasts a large number of taxis and it is a very convenient mode of transport. Passengers are charged according to the distance traveled, and prices are quite reasonable. The obligatory minimum fare is 1.5 Ringgit for the first 2 kilmometers, with a charge of 0.1 Ringgit for every 200 meters thereafter. Prices increase by 50% at night (00:00-06:00).
