Ulan Bator
Brief Introduction:
Ulan Bator is the capital of the People’s Republic of Mongolia and literally means “City of Red Hero”. It is a modern city with a strong prairie style and a history of more than 300 years. Ulan Bator was founded in 1639 when it was known as “Urga”, meaning “palace” in Mongolian language. It was once the residence of Jebtsunba I, the living Buddha of Khalkha Mongolia.
Reasons for Recommendation:
The vast prairie, cloud-like sheep, melodious music from the stringed instrument called morin khuur, along with a mix of Soviet Union–style architecture and traditional nomadic dwellings are the embodiment of Ulan Bator. *Photos provided by BURIGUDE and Air China Commerce Committee
