Auckland Airport (IATA Code: AKL; ICAO: NZAA) is New Zealand’s largest and busiest international airport. It handles 12 million passengers per year, including nearly 7 million international passengers and 6 million domestic passengers. Located close to Mangere, it’s about 21 kilometers from downtown Auckland.
3.Terminal Information
The airport has 2 terminals: International Terminal and Domestic Terminal. Free bus rides between the two terminals are available from 06:00 to 10:30 everyday. The bus stations are located at the exits of the two terminals. There’s also a passageway linking the two terminals, and it’s a 15-mionute walk from one to the other.
4.Location of Check-in Counters
Air China’s check-in counters are located in Zone D, ground floor of the International Terminal (subject to change from time to time). Check-in counters open for service 3 hours before flight departure.

6.VIP Lounge
Air China uses Air New Zealand’s airport lounge -Koru Lounge– to serve its Business Class passengers and PhoenixMiles Platinum/Gold members (including Star Alliance Gold members). Each PhoenixMiles Platinum/Gold member can invite one guest into the lounge who’s to travel with him/her on the same Air China flight. Air New Zealand’s new lounge, which cost NZD 14 million, can accommodate nearly 400 passengers in different functional areas, serving a wide range of foods and drinks.
7.Airport Transportation
Bus: Skybus
Skybus is a shuttle service offered between Auckland Airport and downtown 24-7. The buses run at 10-minute intervals from 7am to 8pm Monday through Friday, but at 15-minute intervals in other time periods of the day. Tickets can be purchased online, at Skybus’ airport ticketing booths or directly from the driver of the bus. Only cash is accepted when the ticket is purchased from the driver.

• Family Pass (2 adults + 3 children): one way, 38 NZD; round trip, 72 NZD
380 Airporter:
The regular bus service provides easy and affordable access to downtown Auckland. A trip to downtown Auckland takes about 60 minutes and the fare/person is 30 NZD. Discounts are available for a group of two persons or more traveling together – only one ticket of one person is charged the full fare while the tickets of all other persons each cost a mere NZD 8. So purchasing your ticket with another passenger is a good idea. The duration of a trip depends of traffic conditions and the number of stops the bus makes to pick up other passengers. If you are to depart from Auckland, you should leave ample time for your 380 Airporter trip.
Taxis:
A taxi ride to downtown Auckland costs about 70-90 NZD and takes about 30 minutes. Services are excellent.
During rush hours, the ride could take longer. If you plan to go to the airport by taxi, leaving ample time for your ride comes as highly recommended.
Car Rental:
Big car rental companies all have their locations in the two terminals of the airport. Advance reservations are recommended.

Various types of vehicles from budget options to chic convertibles are available for rental. Many car rental companies operate in Auckland with most of their street-front stores on Beach Road.
2.Public Transport
Buses and rails are the major modes of transport that provide easy access to all parts of the city. Tickets are available for purchase onboard. Prepaid passes fall into three categories: Multi-Journey, Cash Fares and Gopass Monthly Travel.
3.Trains
Tranz Metro has two trunk routes linking westwards to Waitakere and southwards to Papakura. All trains depart from Britomart.
4.City Link
City Link is an easy and fast bus service linking to many parts of the city including Queen Street, Sky Tower, Vitoria, Victoria Park Market, Ponsonby, Karangahape Road, the University of Auckland, Newmarket, Parnell, Auckland Railway Station and Queen Elizabeth Square. Buses run from 8am to 6pm at 10-minute intervals while at 20-minute intervals at night and on weekends.
Auckland has a mild climate with a lot of rainfall and four distinct seasons. Annual temperatures range between 6℃ to 28℃. The highest average temperature in February is 25.5℃ while that in August, 16℃. Summer is the best season for travel to Auckland, but sunscreen products should be close at hand for outdoor activities.
