On February 19, the Air China Safety Training Working Conference was held in Beijing. It was reported that Air China will take concrete actions from 12 aspects to enhance safe and quality operations in a bid to ensure safe transportation during Olympics as priority of the year.

The fundamental guidelines of safety work of Air China in 2008 are as follows: guided by the spirit of the Seventeenth National Congress, we should carry out the philosophy of “safety & development” and adhere to the principle of “safety as the priority, prevention as the core and implementation of overall administration”; the entire safe business operations of the company shall stick to the Scientific Development Concept; the safety responsibility system and the rules and regulations shall be strictly carried out; we shall also focus on the safety management system, flight operation trainings and Olympic flight operations to ensure the safety of flight operations, air defense and ground operations.

Concrete actions will be taken by Air China from 12 aspects to enhance the overall safety operations: to reinforce the duties and responsibilities, to carry out the safety planning and facilitate the safety management automation, to conduct systematic flight trainings, to strengthen aircraft maintenance and to improve the technical performance of aircraft, to reinforce the operations control, to enhance the safety management on station operations, to improve the standardization of safety management, to roll out the safety risk management, to carry out safety training and to cure the weakness of safety management, to cultivate proactive safety culture, to go all out for Olympic support work.

It is known that the Olympics and Paralympics transportation as well as Olympics and Paralympics torch relay transportations overseas are the two most important key campaigns for Air China in 2008. Air China is committed to going all out for the two key campaigns and especially ensuring the absolute safety of Olympics transportation. To this end, the top management of Air China has made concrete work instructions requiring the great attention and active involvement made by each related department. The responsible persons are required to deeply familiarize with the Olympic support plans and preliminary plans in order to improve overall command and coordination capability. Other departments including flight operations, maintenance and operations control departments are also required to select talented staff to conduct the Olympic related tasks. Efforts should also be made in analyzing potential risks and taking concrete measures to prevent and minimize the possible risks.
